Happy Birthday Zach on Thanksgiving Day!!

Zach is the entertainer of the family. He keeps us all on our toes at all times and tries to get a laugh out of everyone he comes in contact with. One thing about Zach that I think is really cool and unusual for a kid his age is that he likes to be around old people and is always concerned about them. He is constantly reminding me that we need to go see Grandpa Ike at the rest home so he doesn't get lonely. At the football games we sit by this old guy that never stops talking and is kind of annoying. Well it's become kind of a joke for all of us adults to be the first one's sitting down at the game so we don't have to sit by him (I know--we're rude :) but Zach sat by him at one of the games and became his little buddy. He talked to him the whole game and when we were driving home he told me what a nice man this guy was. I was impressed to say the least!

Zach really wanted to go swimming for his birthday this year. I decided to let him bring a couple of friends with us and he chose to bring a couple of his best girl friend buddies. We call him the little chick magnet because most of his friends are girls! :)

Mom and Dad got Zach a ripstick for his birthday. Here he is trying it out. In the second picture he is concentrating so hard he's got his tongue sticking out--so cute. We love you Zachy! Happy #7!!!!!

A trip to the E.R.

So I think we are gluttons for punishment in this household of ours. We had to take Ellie to the Emergency Room tonight because she ripped off a part of her finger, fingernail and a small part of the bone. She and Zach were chasing each other around the house and Ellie ran into her room and was trying to keep Zach out and got her finger caught in the door. She was screaming hysterically and the nice mom I am, I told her to calm down it wasn't that bad...until I looked at her finger. It was BAD! There was blood everywhere. So I call the doctor and they tell me I have to look at it closely to make sure all of her finger is still attached and to check out how bad the wound is and then Zach comes running in the room saying a part of her finger is laying on the floor in her bedroom. I almost passed out right then and there. (Just writing about it and replaying the whole thing in my head is making me woosey all over again.) We took her to the hospital and they were able to reattach everything and are hopeful it will all heal well. We'll be praying!!!!!! The doctor told Ellie she was the bravest 5 year old he's ever worked on in the ER. She didn't cry much at all. Hopefully this will be the end of our trips to the hospital. I've been there 4 times in this last year, Ellie twice and Gracie twice. I don't think I can handle any more. Here is a picture of her x-ray. Look at the top of her ring finger and you'll see the part that broke off.

Here's Ellie with her bunny that the nurses made from towels and gave to her for being such a brave girl. She was feeling a lot better when we got home and took this picture. I don't think the numbness has worn off yet.

Winter is here!!!

Well the snow had to come sooner or later! (I wish it would have been a little later:( I was going to get some fall family pictures taken---I may be too late! The kids were SO excited when they woke up and saw all the snow. They couldn't wait to come home from school to play in it!

Gracie and her friend Cole playing in the snow.

Here's a picture of the two of them I took earlier. He is her best buddy!!!!!

In these next two shots you'll notice the black spots in the middle of the pictures. I don't know what happen to my camera but it's still under warranty so I'll be sending it to panasonic to get it fixed. I will be without it for a few weeks...what am I going to do :) Hopefully I'll get it back before the holidays! Zach's birthday is on Thanksgiving this year.
