Trip to Cali

So I guess I was a real slacker with the picture taking on this trip to California because when I went to post about it I didn't find many pictures. We decided to break the driving up a little bit by staying in Vegas. We stayed at the Stratosphere which was a first for us. We took the kids to the top which took about an hour and a half of waiting to get up there. Matthew was scared to death...forgot about his extreme fear of heights. I thought it was so cool that you would be standing on glass and could look down and see the city. All I could think of at the time is what if we were to have an earth quake right now. It made me so dizzy and pretty scared as well. (wonder where he got it from? ;o) There were some people bungee jumping off the top which we got to watch as well. CRAZY!!!

Since I didn't take many pictures I'll just give a brief explanation of what we did. We went to the beach which was the coldest we've ever experienced. It was the middle of August and it was 50 degrees. The kids didn't seem to mind much, they had fun playing in the sand and building sand castles. They even got in the freezing water. We kept up our tradition of riding bicycles along the beach and eating out at some of the best places ever. We never go to California without being treated to wonderful hospitality from my Aunt Annette and Uncle Dave. We eat well, have many good laughs, learn some new games and have an all around great time!!!

On our way out of town we stopped to take the kids to the L.A. Zoo which probably wasn't the best idea. It was SO hot and there were bees everywhere. Zach got stung by one in the neck. Made it really hard to even enjoy it. Also on our way home we got in an accident on I15 and Victorsville that ended up totaling our car. Kind of a bad way to end a fun family vacation.

I'm kind of embarrassed to even post this picture but it's just another show of Zach's personality so I can't resist. He thought the monkeys showing off all their stuff was pretty funny.
